Beneath its glass covered atrium is all hustle and bustle as businessmen mix with tourists and visiting dignitaries check-in and out, though the light and airy surroundings combined with slick interior design make this a cut above the average corporate chain hotel. No hotel of this size or architectural style would be found within the Old Town proper, but its position close to the Wawel Castle means only a few minutes walk from door to portcullis .

First opened at the turn of this century, the Atrium is a welcome arrival on the Krakow hotel scene with its clean lines and minimalist design that provide a feeling of space and order. All the bedrooms are well kitted out and the service we found throughout the hotel to be friendly and obliging. Though not located within what is regarded as the Old Town, you are only just on the fringes of it and a matter of a few minutes walk away.
