Hotel Copernicus
If you seek the best hotels in Krakow, in our opinion the Hotel Copernicus is it. Planted between the Main Market Square and the Royal Castle on one of the city’s oldest streets, the Copernicus is a boutique style property that oozes taste and an exceptionally well designed interior that combines 14 th century wall frescoes and heavy wood furniture with a swimming pool housed in its medieval cellars and a glassed roofed terrace overlooking the castle. A unique hotel experience and recently a proud member of Relais & Chateaux.

Hotel Sheraton
Big, brash and state-of-the-art are the signature themes of this hotel, which is the latest Sheraton venture in Poland. Beneath its glass covered atrium is all hustle and bustle as businessmen mix with tourists and visiting dignitaries check-in and out, though the light and airy surroundings combined with slick interior design make this a cut above the average corporate chain hotel. No hotel of this size or architectural style would be found within the Old Town proper, but its position close to the Wawel Castle means only a few minutes walk from door to portcullis .

Radisson SAS
Opposite the Philharmonic Hall and a mere couple of minutes walk to the Main Market Square you will find another of Krakow’s latest hotel ventures, the Radisson SAS. Never one to be outdone by the competition, the hotel is adorned with hundreds of paintings loaned from the Academy of Art, complimenting the smooth lines and sharp colours that decorate the bedrooms and public areas. A top all-round hotel that is not just for the businessman. 196 rooms.

Hotel Francuski
Renowned as one of the city’s leading hotels, this ‘old dame’ of a hotel dates back to 1912 and was thoroughly refurbished in the nineties. Its impressive stairwell leads up to bedrooms decorated in plush period furnishings that sit neatly alongside modern facilities and the hotel’s restaurant serving a mixture of Polish and European cuisine. Location wise, the Francuski sits just opposite the Czartoryski Museum, close to the old city walls and just a few minutes walk to the heart of Krakow’s Main Market Square. 42 rooms.

Atrium Hotel
First opened at the turn of this century, the Atrium is a welcome arrival on the Krakow hotel scene with its clean lines and minimalist design that provide a feeling of space and order. All the bedrooms are well kitted out and the service we found throughout the hotel to be friendly and obliging. Though not located within what is regarded as the Old Town, you are only just on the fringes of it and a matter of a few minutes walk away.

Wyspianski Hotel
Once a haunt for student groups and backpackers, in the late nineties the Hotel Dom Turysty decided upon a new upmarket direction implementing a comprehensive interior refurbishment and a change of name to the Wyspianski Hotel. This is now one of the best places to stay in Krakow for those wishing to keep to a strict budget but not have to sacrifice too much in comfort or location, which is only a few minutes walk to the bustling Main Market Square.
