Gdansk’s strategic location on the Baltic coast has throughout the centuries helped it flourish both architecturally and culturally. Many foreign and home grown influences have left their mark and even though much of the city was left in rubble at the end of the second world war, Gdansk today is once more poised to be at the centre of European culture.
